Biography: Bernard Gunther
Mr. Gunther is a recognized expert in Spend Analytics and Spend Management. He has earned his reputation as an industry leader and innovator by helping large companies transform the way they view and manage their procurement activities. During the past 20 years, he has helped top financial institutions around the world realize hundreds of millions of dollars of savings by implementing new ways to achieve procurement excellence.
Prior to founding Lexington Analytics, Mr. Gunther was managing director of The Buying Triangle, a Procurement-to-Pay services company. Previous to that, Mr. Gunther held multiple roles within Corporate Procurement for Deutsche Bank (Frankfurt, Germany) – Global Head of Sourcing and Departmental Chief Operating Officer. Here he helped the bank capture $400 million in sourcing savings and was instrumental in the BPO implementation. Mr. Gunther was a founder of Zeborg (Boston, Massachusetts), a procurement tools company with $50 million in venture funding. He was responsible for developing, selling and operating the ExpenseMap, a web-based product used by Fortune 500 type companies to analyze their spending. He was a founder and leader of the Boston Office for Mitchell Madison Group (MMG) – a consulting firm specializing in Strategic Sourcing. For Global 2000 companies, he led sourcing engagements with a combined total of $5 billion in baseline, saving clients over $700 million annually. He was a management consultant at A.T. Kearney (New York) and McKinsey & Co. (Cambridge, Massachusetts).
Mr. Gunther holds two Bachelors of Science degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Massachusetts – one in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science and one in Management.
